Position Summary


The Senior Payment Processing Specialist is responsible for coordinating the activities of the payment posting department to assure efficiency and accuracy.  This position is accountable for quality, productivity, cost effectiveness and timeliness of work.  This position will oversee the daily workflow of the department and assist with any questions and problem solving. 


Essential Functions


  • Coordinates and directs ongoing activities of the Payment Posting department in order to achieve efficient and accurate input and output.
  • Analyze and implement work strategies and procedures to improve productive efficiency.
  • Coordinate best practices workflow.  Document, observe and track keying and accuracy goals of each employee.
  • Train and coach payment processing staff.
  • Predicting, controlling, implementing, and approving changes in workload, procedures, and schedules through analysis of internal operations and appraisal of operations needs identified through an active liaison with other departments.
  • Responsible for the following current processes while also researching more productive and cost effective ways to complete them:  consumer mail processing, keying of any and all payments, deposit preparation, NSF processing, debit card processing, and keying of all manual payments.
  • Handles department errors and complaints and follows up through resolution.
  • Client payment file reconciliation.
  • Special projects as assigned by Payment Processing Manager.



Job Requirements


Education and Experience


  • Minimally possess a High School Diploma
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Responsible, reliable, professional, honest and ethical in the conduct of business.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities with high quality, productivity and timeliness
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of collection practices is a plus.
