Job Description


Alltran is seeking a motivated candidate that will complement our energetic team and assist with design, implementation, and daily maintenance of its network and telecom systems. The candidate will be involved in troubleshooting and maintaining both in-house and vendor network connections including configuration, supporting/troubleshooting network problems, and coordinating with vendors for installation of items such as direct internet access circuits, MPLS circuits, and VPN connectivity. They would also be responsible for configuration of routers, switches, wireless access points, VOIP gateways, VOIP phones, as well as other devices or technologies as required.

Maintains and manages telephony environment by identifying system requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring system performance.  Leads IT related projects utilizing sound project management framework skills.


  • Establishes system specifications by conferring with supervisors & users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
  • Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of telephony server hardware, software, and operating and system management systems.
  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
  • Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
  • Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
  • Monitors system backups allowing for system recovery of telephony operations.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintains detailed schematics of telephony environment.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
  • Project Manage IT related internal projects coordinating IT and operational resources to successfully execute and implement clients or new systems
  • Assists in the coordination of departmental staff and communications with operational business units

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and administration of enterprise wise networking equipment. This includes switches, firewalls, wireless access points, routers, phone equipment, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and web filtering systems
  • Diagnosing hardware and software problems, replacing components as necessary
  • Configuration and setup of users, workgroups, and skills in the telephony system
  • Configuration of network routes, access control lists, network address translations, and virtual private network connections
  • Assistance with performing tests on equipment to ensure stability and redundancy of equipment
  • Review of data collected from network monitoring tools, and performing actions based on defined thresholds
  • Assist with network security audits, and answer security questionnaires
  • Research and recommend changes to processes to drive better performance and enhanced security
  • Act as a backup to the helpdesk team as needed. This includes reviewing ticket requests related to networking or telecom issues and providing support to the end users or business leaders


Job Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Cisco routers, switching, and WLAN technologies.
  • Solid understanding of VLANs, Layer 2/3 routing, BGP routing, traffic tagging, QOS, port trunking.
  • Technical understanding of VOIP communication protocols and troubleshooting of common issues in a VOIP based network strongly preferred.

Bonus Experience/Qualifications:

  • CCNA / CCNP, JNCIA, ECS/ECNA, or CompTIA Network+ certifications.
  • Working knowledge of Genesys Customer Interaction Center (formerly Interactive Intelligence).
  • Experience with configuration of Polycom SIP based devices.
  • Experience with Cisco (Nexus, Firepower, and IOS platforms), Juniper (SSG, SRX) platforms.
  • Experience with MPLS connectivity (BGP advertising, and traffic shaping).
  • Experience with business level compliance and certification processes.


  • Self-motivated to learn modern technologies, as well as improving usage of existing technology.
  • Ability to be discreet with confidential information.
  • Ability to shift priorities based on demands.
